Can You Currently Get a Bank One Card?

Bank One used to be the sixth-largest bank in USA, but it merged with JPMorgan Chase in 2004. If you used to have a credit card of that bank in the past, you should check Chase card options or shop around for another popular credit cards. Here is the short review of available credit cards by Chase.

To make things even more confusing there are two more banks in the US with similar names- Capital One and Credit One (which are 2 different institutions regardless of their name similarity) that are focusing on the credit card market.  We’ll review credit card options of this banks in our follow up articles.

Chase Freedom Credit Card

Freedom Credit Card comes with unlimited 1% cash back and 5% cash back (limited by $1500) at selected categories that vary every month. Additionally you can earn $100 as a welcome bonus and you can get up to 10% cashback on online purchases through Chase. 0% introductory APR is valid for 15 months on purchases and on balance transfer. Regular APR is between 12.99 and 22.99% based on your creditworthiness. No annual fee

Application can be difficult for people with less than good credit. In that case you can consider Discover More Card card which is easier to get approved for. Some of the highlights:

  • No annual fee.
  • 15 month introductory 0% APR for both balance transfer and purchases.
  • Then regular APR is 10.99 and 19.99%. 5% cashback for selected revolving categories.
  • 5%-20% cashback on online shopping in Discovery online shopping mall.

The only potential drawback of the Discover card is that Discover cards can be accepted not everywhere in the world like VISA or MasterCard, but we always recommend to have a separate travel card with no international transaction fees (see this topic explained). But Discover is a perfect card for the US customers.

Slate Card

Slate Card offers incredible introductory period. For the first 15 months you have 0% APR on purchases and balance transfer, and the regular rate is one of 11.99%, 16,99% or 21.99% after that (based on the credit score you have).

There is no annual fee. This card doesn’t seem very appealing now, when there is a Chase Freedom credit card with the same introductory period and much better rewards. The credit score needed is about the same – good and better. So if you are not very confident in your credit score you can consider Discover More Card card.

Chase Sapphire

Sapphire Credit Card is one of the favorite customers credit cards. When you spend $3000 during the first 3 months you get 40,000 bonus points or $500 in travel rewards. This card is extremely useful for traveling customers – it allows you quickly earn rewards on dining and travel and it doesn’t have any international transaction fees. Reward points can be redeemed for any airline tickets, hotels, etc. Regular APR is only 15.24% and there is no annual fee for the first year ($95 after). The only warning is that Sapphire is a card for those with an excellent credit score.

It is always extremely useful when you shop around for a credit card to know your credit score and it is even more beneficial to constantly monitor your credit. Consider one of the online credit report services that will help you in this. Equifax is a good and well known one.

Miles Credit Cards

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards

Other miles credit cards from Chase are United Mileage plus Card, Continental Airline OnePass, Continental Presidential Plus, British Airways Visa Signature and Amtrak Guest Rewards Mastercard. You can also choose Marriott, Haytt, Ritz-Carlton or Disney Credit cards.

If you are not sure if you can qualify for the Chase Miles cards it is an option to check Miles by Discover Card. Read about miles credit card options in our article.
